There are two routes to access the Sequoia High Sierra Camp; the first (and most highly recommended) is a 1-mile marked trail which is suitable for most hikers, from novice to advanced abilities.

The other route is a 12-mile backcountry hike that leaves from the Lodgepole Visitor Center (in nearby Sequoia National Park) and traverses the Twin Lakes Trail.

Please note: whichever route you select, we strongly encourage arriving to the camp in advance of dusk on your arrival date. Both access trails are well marked, but not lighted. Your experience will be greatly enhanced if you arrive in the afternoon, in time to check-in, get settled and relax before being seated for a sumptuous welcome dinner!

Directions for the 1-mile hiking trail: The recommended drive/hike-in option allows guests to drive to the Marvin Pass trailhead parking lot and hike an easy one mile trail to the camp. This hike encompasses a 300 foot total elevation gain and is recommended for all guests, especially those who will still be acclimating to the Sierra's altitude. The path is clear and well-marked from the parking lot

Directions for the 12-mile hiking trail: The second option to access the Camp is a challenging 12 mile hike from Lodgepole Visitor Center in Sequoia National Park. Guests choosing this option will park in the visitor center lot and hike a well-marked backcountry trail to the camp. This hike takes an average of 9 hours and it is recommended that guests choosing this option start early in the morning. The total elevation gain is approximately 1500 feet and some streams and rocks will be traversed.

If you choose to hike the 12-mile route to reach the Sequoia High Sierra Camp, we offer the convenience of return shuttle transport to the Lodgepole Campground parking lot. This option is ideal for guests who would like to experience the Twin Lakes Trail one way only, with a ride back to their car upon departure. The fee for this shuttle service is $75 per person; advance reservations are required.
